چکیده

This paper focuses on the questions of the evolution of mobile communication. Improving GSM networks is a key step in the development towards the 3rd generation of mobile communication systems. In the current article implementation possibilities of IP in the GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) backbone are investigated. Our goal is to justify the theory; applying absolute priority scheduler to transmit voice packets over IP (VoIP) assures better service, classifying packets according to their delay expectations. To achieve this goal simulations are applied to examine the effects of class numbers, classification and traffic control algorithms. Besides, we tried per-hop priority re-classification and a special early packet discard method. Keywords— Differentiated Services, Voice over IP, IP based GSM backbone

Mobile IP and wide area wireless data

In this paper we present techniques for allowing Mobile IP to interwork with wide area cellular networks. As an example, we illustrate a network consisting of a GSM General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) air interface and a Mobile IP backbone network. The advantage of such a solution is that the backbone network may easily be used to support integrated wireless and wired data transfer, and the lev...

Restoration Design in IP over Reconfigurable All-Optical Networks

Large IP backbone networks today are mostly deployed directly over sequences of point-to-point DWDM systems or chains of newer ROADM-based ultra long haul systems, interconnected by OEO regenerators. The next generation core optical network is moving toward an all-optical network architecture that is based on multi-degree ROADMs to reduce OEO regeneration cost as well as enabling automatic reco...

This document describes a method by which a Service Provider may use its packet-switched backbone to provide Virtual Private Network (VPN) services for its IPv6 customers. This method reuses, and extends where necessary, the "BGP/MPLS IP VPN" method for support of IPv6. In BGP/MPLS IP VPN, "Multiprotocol BGP" is used for distributing IPv4 VPN routes over the service provider backbone, and MPLS ...

Channel Capacity Estimation in VOIP channels Over Wireless Networks

The Voice over IP (VOIP) and the IP based internet services are revolutionizing the way wireless networks are developed. The VOIP services make use of the internet backbone rather than the traditional circuit based networks (PSTN and the wireless voice services). The advantage provided by the VOIP technology over the traditional circuit based networks is that both voice and data signals are tra...

Providing multicast short message services over self-routing mobile cellular backbone network

service for short alphanumeric (up to 160 bytes) messages, is a unique feature of GSM, not found in older analog systems. The multi-receivers short message traffic has increased amazingly these years. In this paper, we propose a multicast short message service architecture over our backbone network. Then, we demonstrate some approaches to maintain the location information of short message servi...
